Seminars and corporate celebrations in the middle of the lush green idyll, the Vienna Woods.
Secluded on a hill in the middle of nature: What sounds like the ideal place of refuge in the forest, is actually exactly that: the Refugium Hochstrass. Just as idyllic, the seminar hotel in the Vienna Woods, steeped in history, invites its guests to hold seminars and workshops. The picturesque view from the half-dozen seminar rooms and the panoramic terrace, the infinite silence and the 100-year-old house chapel – are just a few highlights. With its special ambience, the former convent on the mountain offers space for numerous elegant events for all professional groups. From health care to education to closed board meetings, every visitor will find both creativity and tranquillity here.
A venue for tranquillity: the Refugium Hochstrass Seminar Hotel
Far away from the metropolitan areas of Vienna and St. Pölten, you can reach the former convent via the A1 and drive directly to the meeting venue in the Vienna Woods by car. After the general refurbishment, in which the original charm of the building was preserved, the hotel with a history welcomed its first guests in autumn 2015. Since then, this extraordinary location for conferences, workshops, corporate celebrations, incentives and team-building events has become a popular retreat for tranquillity in the midst of greenery. Six seminar rooms with spectacular panoramic views are located in the expansive roof truss under the bell tower. Among them are even two with outdoor access. The largest meeting room of the barrier-free location measures 230 square metres. It is ideal for team events and creates space for 40 people in theatre-style seating. With a classroom-style arrangement, the space accommodates 25 guests and with 20 participants, you can sit in a U-table or circular formation. The historic walls of the building and chapel completed in 1896 are the perfect place to concentrate on work and are guaranteed to boost creativity at your meetings.

High-quality facilities and catering in nature
Even though the time-honoured convent has already clocked up a number of years, the seminar facilities have the most modern technical equipment. Just like all the other rooms, the two largest meeting rooms named after the former nuns Sister Pazifica and Sister Maristella, offer suitable equipment to fulfil all your wishes for meetings and lectures: pin boards, flip charts and presentation cases, projectors including screens, microphones, loudspeakers, Wi-Fi as well as a mobile screen as an ideal presentation option. The Refugium Hochstrass also caters for the culinary wellbeing of its guests: For the morning break you will be pampered with savoury snacks and in the afternoon, there are sweet treats. You would like to get a bit of a boost between meetings? A 3-course lunch menu is served or prepared as a buffet, depending on the number of people. In the evening, regional delicacies from the Gault&Millau award-winning cuisine are served directly to your table. Are you and your team going to be here for longer? 14 cosy double and 24 single rooms plus two suites are available for overnight stays at the seminar hotel.
The "C" in convent stands for concentration and creativity
Do you get drawn to the outdoors for a stimulating meeting? You’ll for sure conjure up new ideas at alternative locations like outside on the terrace or at the wooden podium in the middle of the outdoor greenery. Panoramic views over the treetops of Lower Austria definitely contribute to helping you breathe deeper and have more relaxing moments, reducing stress and anxiety. You and your team can also find new strength during group yoga, outdoor morning meditation or meetings on the weatherproof seating under the trees. The convent’s 167-hectare cosmos is also home to a biotope, on the banks of which there is an outdoor Finnish sauna for ultimate moments of relaxation. At the summer kitchen by the pond, you can put your baking skills to the test during a culinary team-building event, where everyone prepares crispy flat bread in an original Italian pizza oven or conjures up Kaiserschmarrn. Special leadership training with the hotel's own Noriker horses is also available. Explore the countryside, visit the Maria Lourdes Grotto using idyllic hiking trails, as well as taking guided forest and lantern walks, and soak up the tranquillity that the Vienna Woods exudes.
