Events and celebrations in one of Austria's oldest monasteries
The Benedictine monastery of Göttweig Abbey has been welcoming guests since the year 1083. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is still a working monastery with a community of about 40 monks who regard their abbey as a meeting place. Partly on account of its spectacular location and views – the abbey terrace is widely considered the most beautiful in the Wachau valley – Göttweig is one of Austria's most magnificent monasteries. The baroque building with its seven meeting rooms certainly provides a unique setting for all kinds of events. Another plus point is that, at Göttweig, you will find meeting rooms and accommodation, a restaurant and cultural attractions such as the museum and the abbey church, all under one roof.
Historic rooms for exciting events
At Göttweig Abbey, there are a total of seven meeting rooms available for your conferences, seminars, workshops and corporate events. The rooms are of many different sizes but all display the same classical elegance in their baroque decor. The historic ambience of the stunning Fountain Room, the dining room – at Göttweig Abbey also called the Summer Refectory – and the Benedictine Hall makes them perfect for impressive team-building events, conferences and corporate events. The largest room, measuring 360 square metres, accommodates up to 300 guests. The total capacity of the abbey is 750 people, and outdoor events are even possible for as many as 4,500 guests. So don't stint on the superlatives and plan your outstanding event here, in the heart of the beautiful scenery of Lower Austria. For outdoor relaxation, you can use the lovely terrace and the spacious abbey courtyard, not to mention the sports pitch and beach volleyball court, the nearby forest and the charming gardens, which have been awarded the "Golden Hedgehog" for eco-friendly gardening. And by the way, you will find 200 free parking spaces for your use on arrival.

Impressive technology and culinary delights
Even though Göttweig Abbey can look back on a long history, its technology is up-to-the-minute: from projectors and microphones to sound systems, stages and podiums, you'll find the right equipment here for any business event. During your presentations, you can take advantage of large-screen monitors and video walls, special concert technology and even lighting effects. Nor is there any shortage of culinary pleasures: the cuisine and catering options at the abbey are first-class. Thanks to the wide range of conference packages, you can organise the refreshments during your event exactly as you wish. Furthermore, the abbey restaurant, with its cosy rooms, panoramic dining hall and large terrace, is so inviting: up to 320 people can enjoy the sensational views from here. If you need more time for your event, there is the option of spending the night in one of the abbey's 36 rooms. There are many other hotels in the Wachau region, with the accommodation in Krems being particularly convenient.
Majestic location and stunning surroundings
Göttweig Abbey towers high above the Danube Valley, offering breathtaking views of the river and the picturesque vineyards of the Wachau. This remarkable location makes the abbey the ideal place for coming up with creative ideas or recharging your batteries in beautiful scenery. Attractions around the abbey include not only the culture and fine food of the Wachau but also the historic town of Krems with its "Art Mile" and the Wine Experience, a tour of the Krems Winery. A boat ride on the Danube is another option, or a hike along the Jakobsweg (Way of St. James). To enjoy the artistic treasures of the abbey itself, visit the museum in the Kaiser wing. Other interesting activities are also possible: taste the fine wines produced by the abbey's own vineyards, join a guided tour of the baroque monastery, try some of the apricot delicacies or have a fireside chat with a monk.
