Top Ranking: Vienna Ranks 4th in Worldwide UIA Congress Statistic
After the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) has already ranked Vienna fourth amongst the most sought-after congress destinations worldwide in 2015, the latest UIA (Union of International Associations) congress statistics also show Vienna on fourth place.
In 2015, 279 of all international congresses held in Vienna met the UIA criteria, pushing the city to rank four of the list which is led by Brussels (657), Singapore (643) and Seoul (467). Paris (276) follows Vienna on fifth rank, ahead of Bangkok (229), Tokyo (215), Berlin (215), Geneva (171) and Barcelona (156). The latest success in the international ranking also reflects the growth of Vienna’s meeting industry in 2015: for the first time Vienna’s contribution to the net product 2015 crossed the billion limit with EURO 1,038 millions. Meetings and congresses achieved a new all-times height with 1.7 million overnight stays.
In a worldwide country ranking Austria holds the 11th place with 338 events. The USA (880) lead the ranking, followed by Korea (780), Belgium (726), Singapore (see above), France (489), Germany (437), Japan (431), Spain (411), Italy (383) and Great Britain (344). Vienna’s share of the Austrian wide result is 82.5%.
