Salzburg Convention Bureau: Growing Demand

Salzburg has become an important destination in Austria for international congress and meeting organisers. According to Salzburg Convention Bureau, the number of meeting inquiries from international clients shows a plus of 10% and is still increasing. This is of utmost importance for the regional economy: Delegates stand out due to their above-average value creation.

Last year the providence Salzburg listed more than 219,500 participants at large and several days’ congresses – a 5,7% increase. Next to congresses and seminars Salzburg hosts many international corporate meetings in 2017. The German Software AG hosted their international User-Group-Conference in Salzburg City – and an event of the search engine giant Google also took place in Salzburg. Both companies’ events were held in the city of Salzburg as well as in the mountains surrounding the city.

Away match for Upper Austria at Allianz Stadion in Vienna-Hütteldorf

Right on time for the kick off, Convention Bureau Upper Austria and its team of 11 partners welcomed their guest to an exclusive networking event at 6 pm on 27 April at the new Allianz Stadion in Vienna Hütteldorf.

At the beginning, communication expert Markus Kroner outlined the gameplay in his keynote speech “Heartbeat of Sales”. Then, the guests were split into teams and met the partners from Upper Austria in a series of “speed dates”.

As the final whistle blew after 90 minutes, the guests were so amazed by the wide range of products Upper Austria had to offer for meetings, incentives Events and Christmas parties that the game had to go into extra time.

Austria's Meeting Industry Grows Steadily

For the eight consecutive year, the Austrian Convention Bureau (ACB) and Austrian National Tourist Office presented the positive results of the Meeting Industry Report Austria (mira). ‘The results are not surprising as Austria has a unique and versatile range of products, for large national and international congresses as well as for smaller seminars and events’, confirms Petra Stolba, CEO of the Austrian National Tourist Office, at the mira press conference at InterContinental Hotel Vienna. ‘Together, professional hosts and service providers strengthen the national meeting industry and contribute to ist steady growth.’

Meetings without Borders

Carinthia Convention and its partners organised a culinary networking event for Slovenian meeting planners

The Jurcek Pavillion at GR – Ljubljana Exhibition Convention Centre turned into an innovative kitchen space for Carinthia Convention’s culinary networking event. 20 selected meeting organisers met 9 congress providers from Carinthia and Styria and established many new business connections and new contacts during the exclusive event.

The interactive introduction of Carinthia’s MICE offers was followed by a truly tasty experience: the participants created traditional dishes together, under the guidance of the two renowned chefs, Thomas Gruber from Carinthia and Igor Jagodic from Slovenia. A special highlight awaited the meeting planners at the end of the event: after being given an exclusive preview of future events in Carinthia, the participants watched a friendly cooking challenge between Thomas Gruber and Igor Jagodic.
